Because in the past, when there were no commodities nor modern houses and people had to live in nature, they were needed to protect them from the climate. Time passed and since all people were wearing something, everyone got used to it and now that they're not 100% percent necessary all the time, our taboos say that it's wrong to be naked. In some civilizations though, people are always naked and since it's always been that way for them, they don't think it's a big deal

Well, if you go around without them for a while you'll probably figure it out eventually. Most of us got it a long time ago. It's also a form of public service as most look far better with than without and prevents the fright of little old ladies. I highly recommend clothing to any savages out there.

Let's see......Sunburn, windburn, cold, dirt, harrassment, some people like myself should just stay clothed, insect bites. Admittedly the world would be a nicer place if it wasn't frowned upon to walk around naked and if people weren't programmed to checking each other out and making fun of the less than perfect.

we put on clothes to protect us from the climate.
most of us look better with clothes on.
since we are special type of primates, that are ready to have sex all the time, in contrast to most primates (except maybe bonobos, a chimpanzee subspecies), we are used to have clothes on in public, and we are not used to take our clothes off in public, it gives us a taboo on having sex in public, which makes sex a private thing (unlike bonobos) and that is probably supportive for the creation of long term attachment between couples, which is needed in human society, to maintain the bond between couples for the long process of raising human children.
so we wear clothes so we stay together for the sake of our children.
