I'd be VERY WARY of ANY website seeking to know my POP server email address and the my email account password. Stick to what is safe and comfortable--send email through your own email service that you know is safe.

However, if you DO encounter a website that wants to send you material you'd be interested in or wants you to have a limited "account" on THEIR website service, I'd say offer them your legit email address, but create a NEW PASSWORD for THAT particular website service.

If you select a link from a site which is targeted to send mail. It requires your mailing program to be configured for this, OUtlook Express for eg. which reuires a mail server to store the sent and recd. mails. for which you are prompted.

If you don't all these details you may simply ignore this and use your own email a/c provider(eg yahoo, rediff) to send mails to the desired email address(one in the site can be copied and pasted).

I think this makes it quite clear.

Like the others, I'd stick with your own service; don't get involved with POP settings etc, there's no need. What you have works, use it.
