it's essentially a sales job. read books about sales. also, i have found that people who are great teachers can become great salespeople. if you take one of these two points of view, it may help.

If you are looking for referrals, get to know the real estate agents in your area. They send a great deal of business to loan officers. Also, you may want to try the local businesses, such as furniture stores. Some of the small businesses may refer their customers to you if they know that you will process the loan quickly.
