You know John S maybe onto something there.
My thoughts are similar--it sounds as though you gave up your dream to follow your partner's. that must be quite frustrating :).
It also sounds like your suffering from panic attacks, I had those a few years ago stuck in a job that I too HATED!!.
There are tons of jobs that are advertised on the net these days & it sounds like your current boss' know that you are sick, I would suggest one of these options:
a) apply for jobs on your lunch break & at home after work, we know you have net time or else you wouldn't be able to go on yahoo answers :)).
After you get a resume made up & sent around, then the day you have an interview, make sure they know (the co. that is interviewing) that you are working & need to be back in __ amount of time. most places are cool with that!! They understand that they are interviewing other ppl's employees.
If you must, tell your current employer that you have a doctor's appoint to check up on your health (since your recent episodes) OR b) dentist? c) period pains if your female--whatever...
b) other option would be to ask your current employer if he/she would allow for you to change your hours so you can take a night course--try to find some way to relate it to your current job. It may take immagination or something.
For example, accounting is always needed in places & maybe even where you are--you can start offering to help the accountant to do data entry where you are--then ask the boss to change your hours if possible--mention that you are already helping the account w/ stuff & it would be great if you could learn more skills to take on more responsibility.
There are always ways, but it is so hard to see when we're stressed. The other suggestion is to take a few days of work off and go sit with a career councellor or a reg. one & take some time to talk through all the things that are going on in your life.
It may help take a big load off!!

Sounds like u have stress to me, the chest pains and breathing problems sound like a panic related disorder, maybe a little depressed hence unhappy at work, see the doc first and make sure you are ok before looking for more stressfull jobs, when ready you can always apply online and have an interview after work or in the lunch hour or maybe look at some agencies needing skilled workers, that way it's just 1 interview and u can always take a vacation to look to as mentioned already, take care .

If you don't mind blood, look into being a re-use technician at a dialysis facility. If you are a hard worker you could easily work your way up the ladder. You would clean artificial kidneys that look like cylinders(not as bad as it sounds) . All you need is a high school diploma or GED.
Re-use techs usually work 3, 12 hour days a week.I believe they start out at 11 to 12 dollars an hour depending on where you live.

I don't want to be a wet noodle but jobs get even worse than what you are talking about! You are blessed enough to work with family. Just think what it will be like when your boss isn't family and hates your guts! My poor mother in law has been dealing with jealousy and hate for over a year at her job. I also had someone key my car and burn the inside panel for just hating me. I'm telling you, it gets worse. When family get on your nerves, you can tell them to bleep off but when you work for an asshole, you don't get the luxury. My advise is to be careful what you wish for, you just may get it! Also keep in mind there is no such thing as "better" only different. Work will always be work no matter how you tumble it around. Its a four letter word, what can I tell you. Just try to be thankful for the things you do have as opposed to not having. Good Luck.

Look at what you think you're good at or what you love doing, and try to use that to find a new career. There are job sites online where you can send your resume and fill out applications without having to take time out of your day to go there. When you get calls from possible employers, explain the situation honestly and ask if something can be worked out. You'd be surprised how many of them would try to help you out, since you have a job now and are obviously employable. Good luck!

Decide What You would like to do for a living. Then, become self employed and do it! You Can Do Anything You Want To Do!! There are lots of Good Network Marketing jobs out there. Some involving cosmetics which may appeal. Who knows, you might make lots of money out of it which you certainly cannot by working for someone else.

It seems that you dont have a goal in life and you are blaming your job for it. I am not trying to offend you but lets just say I have been down that road. I am now 42 years old settled and have a family that I love and adore. Having said that it took me upto the age of 30 before I had a goal in life. My goal was to secure my family's future and provide them with the opportunities in life that I did not have as a child. I broke down the goal into smaller objectives and worked on the goal one step at a time. Honey, you got to have a goal it keeps us all moving otherwise you will end up hating whatever you do.
Been there! God Bless

dont leave your current job without having one to go to. Its always easier to find a job whilst you are employed - it doesnt look good in an interview if you say you walked out of your last job. If you get an interview then take annual leave

1) The Best thing to do is to leave your current job.
2) Regsiter with a good recruitment consultancy and ask them to place you in a "temping" role. This will allow you the flexibility to look for work and to attend interviews while you still have a good income coming in.
3) While you are temping, search carefully for your aspirations and goals and apply to those positions/companies that will fulfil your professional needs.
4) upload your cv on:
www.monster.com
www.reed.co.uk
www.londonjobs.co.uk (or www.londonjobs.com)
and start submitting your CV online to various positions.
