It's a good name for a baby. You can spell it either Geoffrey or Jeffrey. He can be called either Geoff or Jeff. They are both pronounced the same.

I'm not really a big fan of the name Geoffrey, just because everyone I've ever known by that name has had it mispronounced "Gee-off" Have you considered the traditional Jeff- spelling?

i think a baby's name should be depended on their personality's like:
jalisa: shy but out going and is rarely found written like that
dayvon: speaks their mind and really goes for thing he wants
i think he should come up with a unique name that rarely is found people can pronounce but if he cant then he should go to a baby store and find a baby name book the book also includes the meaning of the name a well

No it's a name your Grandad is called! There is plenty of posh sounding names other than Geoffrey the Giraffe!
Try Henry, Harry, William or Edward.

I think it's a great name, maybe a bit common. I have a friend named Geoffrey, though he is anything but "posh."

I like the name. It is not common, and has history. Originating from England, it means "Heavenly Place". You can check this and other names here: http://www.babynameworld.com/g.asp
You didn't say, but is it a relatives name, such as a grandparent or great grandparent? That would make the name even more special. As long as you love the name, then go with it.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I like it. Geoffrey is cute for a little boy and can transition into the more adult sounding Geoff (Jeff) when he gets older.

I don't personally like that name, but if I had to use it, I like the spelling Jeffrey a lot better!! He can be called Jeff when he's older.
Sorry. Just an opinion.

No! I'm sorry but that's a horrible name. Although it does mean heavenly place. But it's not my child. Personally I'd want something a little more unique but not bizarre.
