I just moved from Iowa to California after getting married to my husband. I don't know anyone here save for a sister-in-law and her family, and a brother-in-law. This is the first time I've moved since I was 6 years old, so I'm a little clueless. What are some good ways to make some new friends in a completely new city?

Get involved with the neighbors. Get acquainted with them just by walking down the street. I'm sure some will start to say, "Hello". California is a friendly state. Also, get involved in community activities--gym, library, church, grocery store. Maybe find a part-time job and meet others that way. You'll have many friends because your question indicates to me that you are open and a friendly person who wants to meet others.

A good place to start is with your neighbors. Go to some of the houses and introduce yourself! You never know, some of your neighbors might have seen you move in, and are curious.
