The best slot machines, are video poker machines.

You can find all of the full pay video poker machines in Las Vegas at this site. >This site also gives the location of every full pay machine in the casino.
http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/vpfree
also a rundown on each hotels slot club.

The best hotel with the best VP is the LV Hilton..

The locals casinos and downtown LV have the best VP payback..So you can make the assumption that their slots probably payback better also..Since I have never known anyone who could look at a slot machine and tell you what it pays back..VP machines have their pay schedule posted on them, all you have to be able to do is read one to know it's long term payback.

You can also find a list of all VP at this site along with, much more gambling info on LV

#1- Wynn
#2- Bellagio
#3- Venetian
#4- Caesars Palace

Later: Cheapovegas is a great site and I love their reviews, BUT, they do not review "slots" other than video poker, because this would be impossible. The Nevada Gaming Commission only publishes the numbers by denomination and "general" location. Such as, the payback percentage of Nickel, Quarter, Dollar, Etc slots on the Strip vs Downtown vs the Boulder Hwy.

I have found that the best slots are at 1) The Gold Coast; 2) The Imperial Palace; and 3) Casino Royale. The Gold Coast pays well and has a wide variety of newer and older video (not video poker) and reel slots. I always have liked the Rio Hotel and Casino. Their rooms are considered suites, but are actually oversized guest rooms. I don't like the casino, but the hotel is very nice. Good luck!

Downtown? Or on the Strip? Downtown is old Vegas, while the Strip is where all the modern resorts, shows, and attractions are located. You can easily find reasonable room rates on the Strip, depending on when you go. Weeknights are cheaper than weekends, and fall months tend to be fairly busy with events and conventions, which drive up prices a bit. Anytime there's a big event in town, prices will be higher. But you can find reasonable rates at Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana (recently renovated - wouldn't really have recommended it before), NYNY, Monte Carlo, Flamingo, Bally's, Harrah's, and Treasure Island. The locations of the latter 4 are ideal, as they are right in the middle of the Strip. Flamingo, Bally's, and Harrah's don't have resort fees, which are mandatory nightly fees added onto your room rates at other resorts. You can often find rates around $50 a night at these resorts, and rarely over $75 unless there are big things going on, especially on weeknights. If you meant downtown, then I'd suggest Golden Nugget. It's a really nice resort and always has reasonable prices. There are plenty of reasonable places to eat - fast food is all over, there are food courts in the hotels, etc. You could get by with $30 a day for meals if you plan to eat all fast food. You might want to try a buffet while you're there - the moderate ones are in the $20-25 range for dinner. I like the buffets at Paris and Planet Hollywood. Alcohol is expensive though. If you plan to drink, you'll need to budget for at least twice what you pay in a bar at home. There are lots of great shows in Vegas. Tickets usually start around $60 for these shows, but can be more. Some suggestions: *Cirque shows (all are good, but my favorites are O and Mystere) *David Copperfield *Penn & Teller *Blue Man Group *Terry Fator Other things to see/do: *Bellagio fountains (free) *Bellagio conservatory (free) *Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at Venetian (~$25) *Stratosphere view and/or rides (~$12-25, depending on what you do) *NYNY coaster (~$15) Airfares are hard to estimate. It depends on where you're flying from, and when you are flying. They can vary quite a bit by month, and even by day of the week.

Best hotel for the pool is a toss up between Mandalay bay and the Mirage...if this important to you. The area near The Wynn and Mirage, Venetian , Caesars...has alot of shopping so any of these will do..lotsa restaurants too. I find the slots in the most visable areas tend to be the loosest...try to find the ones pay out coins..the casinos love it when someone wins on 1 of these! also you'll be more visable to the drink server!

Good Luck!
