I believe Netflix was the first company to come up with the online rental business model, and if they were not officially the first, then they were definitely the first to popularize it. The founder of Netflix is Reed Hastings.
I personally like the Netflix service. Its recommendation system has actually introduced me to movies I otherwise would not have heard of. I also appreciate the enormous selection. Sometimes it's a pain... like when there are delivery issues, or the disc they send you is unplayable... but overall, I'm a fan.

yeah blockbuster and netflixs are kings and it will be hard for you though because they have low prices and everthing........UNLESS you offer a unique thing that no one else has something that will make you popular, but in the meantime don't think about all the legal stuuf yet because you have get that magic idea first!

its great. my friends with kids use those services a lot. you curl up with your spouse after you put the kids to bed and watch a movie (since going to the theatre with a toddler is not an option) that is mailed directly to your home! much easier than packing the kids up and going to the video store. its fantastic and making a lot of money so whoever the "idiot" is one rich idiot.
