Try salt water... mix a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water then try and sniff some out of the palm of your hand... you can do this often and it really works. as for making it leave, get something like Demazine tablets which will dry up the mucous and clear up whatever is causing it... If the mucous is yellow or green you should see a doctor to prescribe and antibiotic cause that means there is an infection somewhere...
Hope this helps... Good Luck

I have had the same problem in the past. You could go to the doctor and ask him/her. It could be allergies. They might give you a prescription for an anti-histamine/decongestant. If it is only when you are in your room something in there could be bothering you. Dust, mold, pet dander, fragrances(fabric softener or detergent), piles of dirty clothes, maybe you need to change your sheets or vaccuum?
I have taken Actifed (over the counter) and that helped me. Prescription-Allegra-D worked well (the d stands for decongestant). Hope you find relief & can get some sleep!

Mine is like that too. Does it just sort of stay in one spot and you can't blow it out or suck it in? I had to get this stuff I squeeze into my nose and it clears it out. But since I took this old feather pillow (I bought at the thrift store) and had it dry cleaned and a new cover, I haven't had it as bad. I also finally vacuumed my room! So it might be an allergy. The stuff I use is called flutocasone proportionate and you have to have a prescription to get it.
Good luck! OH, I dribbled "Ocean Water" into my nose at night and in the morning and it helped. You can get it at Walmart or other stores.

Try taking an allergy medicine like Clariton or even benadryl to start see if it helps...also could use vicks and vaporizer..If too dry you can feel cloggy and if allergies you get "mucousy" I use Clariton every night and have for years to keep my nose from getting yucky.

Do a warm salt water flush of your nose.
Its gross and the mucus will come out.
I would have a glass of water there to drink quickly as well.
Sinus medications and caffiene both can keep you awake.
A benedryl willl make you sleepy.
