College football will never top the NFL with the BCS crap...fans love college football until it comes down to the championship games...don't expect for them to do away with it either! Untill we have college playoffs, but it'll never be!

No college is not more popular than the NFL. The NFL is a billion dollar a year company...whereas college is just beginning to get the sponsors that the NFL has had already. The thing to remember with the NFL, is that each player on one team was the BEST player from their High School and College at the position they play. It's more about talent than it is about work ethic.

If you think back about 10 years ago - the BCS was simpler and there weren't as many labels on the Bowl Games - Example: Tostito's Fiesta Bowl. Tostitos and Frito Lay have been advertising with the NFL many years before Tostito's has been advertising with the BCS.

The reason why the stadiums are larger is because Universities have to cater to several types of people that go to the games - locals, alumni, fans, current students/faculty/staff, and all of the scouts from the NFL. That can add up to a lot of people. Especially for a school such as Michigan. Michigan has several alum, it's in a huge conference, and the school itself has a population of over 40,000. So their stadiums have to cater to a large crowd. Besides, not all of their games are Nationally televised.

It depends on where you live and who you ask. In towns and cities where there is not an NFL franchise, college football reigns. You ask a current big time college student, an alumni or booster, they will say college football. But in my honest opinion, the NFL is king of the jungle. The TV ratings numbers don't lie, During the autumn and early winter, the NFL consistently beats out college football. The way college football is currently set up with the BCS crap, college football will never reach the popularity of the NFL. If college football gets rid of the BCS and go to a playoff system, college football might attract more viewers.

Everyone has their own opinion, but personally I like the fact that although all of the guys in the NFL were the best on their college team, the guys in college actually try harder. In the NFL they give up on plays that guys in college wouldn't dream of giving up. Plus, although the BCS sucks, it gives fans more of a nervous feeling about whether their team will win or not. In the NFL if they lose it isn't over yet. Whereas in college you are always rooting against other teams just so your team gets into some sort of championship game. Plus, the rivalries are much bigger. So in my mind I believe that college is better.

The big schools have bigger stadiums but there fan base is very local and the merch sales pale in comparison to the NFL. There are many teams that do not have a large fan base for their football team as well. And in response to the guy above why the NFL does not run the option, the falcons have an option play in their system. But they dont run the option bc 1. the qbs in the pros are chosen as a passer first runner second priority. 2. the option works against unprepared and undisicplined defenses, and can be stopped if they play assignment football. it lives and dies by over aggressive defensive ends an OLBs. NFL defensive players are much to fast and agile to run the option against them.

It's more localized. A majority of the American population has an affiliation with a university/college either thru being an alumnus or just living in the area. Those two factors create strong bonds between fans and their respective teams. Go Hogs!!

Yeah College FB blows the NFL away. The only time I pay attention to the NFL is after the bowl season is over.

College football is popular in particular areas where there is no NFL teams. Overall, the NFL just has a better product because they have the best players in the world. I enjoy watching both and I definitely could see fans picking one or the other.

The T.V. ratings would say no. The only reason the stadiums are so big is because of all of the die hard students and alumni. Professional teams don't have that.
