Hi,
I'm looking for a place to stay in Aswan. I believe that the view of Nile from Memnon Hotel is excellent, the rooms are average and the entrance to the hotel is horrible !
Is that right?
Why is everyone finding the entrance of the hotel so bad??
I would like to stay in a hotel with a nice Nile view in the mid-range group. Can you recommend any else?
Many thanks in advance.

The Memnon's entrance is via a small alley, and the hotel itself is actually above a bank.
So that is most likely the reason you have been give a poor report about the entrance.
The rooms are quite small, but it is very clean.
It is located in a prime position on the Corniche de Nile so, as long as you request a front room you will get a splendid view of the Nile.
Another option worth considering is, The Sarah Hotel.
It is built on a hilltop over looking the Nile. Along with a spectacular panorama of the Western Desert on one side, it can proberly boast it has the best views of the First Cataract on the Nile you will get.
The only problem is is not right in town. It is located 1k past the Nubian Museum.
There is also one of my favorites, also recomended by the Lonely Planet's guide to Egypt.
Although it is lower in price than the other two,and is called a budget hotel rather than a midrange one.
The only reason that I can judge the classification is that, the rooms have no television.
The hotel is The Hathor, a small, privately owned hotel with only 36 rooms.
It has a lovely roof-top terrace and swimming pool.
The rooms are small but clean. All have a/c. which is a nessesity in Aswan most of the year. The room's also have an ensuite bathroom.
Best of all it has, what are among the best views of the Nile you will get from any hotel, right in Aswan.
It is also right on the Corniche De Nile.
There is also, one of the most famous and historic hotels in all Egypt.I must give mention to it,for it is an Aswan landmark.
The Old Cataract Hotel, located right on the Nile. It is a splendid moorish style hotel, surrounded by gardens. It is right from the Agatha Christie murder/thriller novel and also a film,Death on The Nile.Agatha Christie also stayed there and wrote part of the famous novel while sitting on the terrace.
If you can afford its top end price, then it would be hard to go past it and recommend you stay anywhere else.
If like most of us, it is just a little bit beyond your financial boundries. Then make sure you a least go there for a traditional, gin and bitter lemon.
Just take some time, and sit sipping it on the terrace, relax and gaze at the Nile going by in true 1930's style.
Hoping this has give you some assistance.
I am sure you will enjoy a memorable holiday in Egypt.
