Okay, i've been seeing alot of test lately that seem to fly in the face of what I was taught years ago. Metalic pads are good and messy, semi metalic are better and can be given additives to help with heat, noise, dusting, etc., and the man made pads are capable of just about whatever we want them to do since they are designer made materials. Then there are ceramic pads which are very good at dissipating heat and run very clean but don't have the same grab as say a good semi or man made. Now I'm seeing test results from the semi's that out perform everything else. So this will probably get alot of different responses but let's hear it ... which is better and why?

I'd like to toss a couple other possibilities at you. Some of my customers request EBC Green Stuff pads. They seem to be the cleanest pad of all. EBC makes more aggressive pads if you like. They seem to stop a little better than ceramic pads and your rotors will last forever. They are made of Kevlar material and last only 30,000 miles at best. Wagner Quiet Stop pads are working great on my car. Ceramics seem to be cleaner and stop nearly as well as a full metallic. My main gripe concerning metallic and semi metallic pads is they eat rotors. As everyone knows there's minimal thickness for cleanup on rotors these days. Once a rotor warps reconditioning will not fix it. Warping is caused by rapid heat and cooling (water). A re-annealing of the metal takes place and "BANG" the rotor may become softer in certain areas. All metals have different annealing (hardness) schedules depending on the customers needs. I think everyone else has given you good advise also. You need to weigh the info. and make in your judgment make a best choice. Never ever put off - shore rotors on your car there $ cheap but in two years or less there cooked.

for whatever your braking need is, go with manufacture spec pads and rotors. if you really want an aftermarket replacement, raybestos is the best. american made, lifetime warranty on their pads, and they give ya shims and clips if you need them.
