There are two types: Dual core processor and core 2 duo processor.

Someone in Fry's got there head up their core. It is dual core and core 2 duo. Maybe the guy thought you were talking about core 2 duo, since your typing reflects you do not really know the difference either. lol Anyway, read the bottom articles just to let you know what is going on. Next time, you ask a question name your computer and model number and people will tell you exactly what you got.

Here is the dual core processor article

INTEL HAS TWO DUAL CORE CHIPS FOR THE DESKTOP.
You have the older and slower variety .there is both 1.83 duo and a 1.83 duo core2. the intel 1.83 duo core 2 has on die shared l1 & l2 cache memory. the1.83 duo core has two set of l1 & l2 cache memory and to share it the info has to go threw the motherboard first and so this slow it down some . O.K. HAVE A NICE DAY

right click the taskbar (inbetween the start menu and the clock area). in the menu, choose task manager, when that opens, change to the performance tab.
How many graph boxes do you see for CPU usage History?
