This might seem like a backwards question....But I want to know how much liqour I can bring INTO Mexico. Basically, we are going down to Puerto Penasco for a Bachelor Party/Spring Break which also coincides with St. Patti's day. So I need a couple of cases of guiness, about 14 bottles of wine and a couple of bottles of vodka. Other liqour will be bought there. The thing is, only four people will be crossing at a time, and logistically all liqour needs to go with one group. So my question is.....How much can I bring in? And if I am over the limit, am I ok to just declare and pay duty? Thanks

When crossing the border (assuming it is not Nogales), you will not actually talk to to anyone. You just drive right on over the border without stopping. Take it! Just put in the trunk and have a great time.

ok..
you actually you can take 3 Litros .. per person ..
4 peope means 12 litros (like 4 galons )

and Yes you do talk to people if you have to

USA custom has nothing to do with what you take OUT of USa
.
once you croos the Border , in the Mexican side ..

there is two options::
DECLARE line you got there and pay taxes for what you know is over the 50 dollars limit for free items

Nothing to declare :

you will find a stop light ..you drive you car ..push a buttom ..If you get a green ligth you just drive away with no search ..
if you GET a Red light , you car will be searched and If they find something over the limits for free items ..they can make you pay taxes or confiscate the items..

my advise:
depends how much you want to take with you : pay taxes or buy buy the liquor once you there ..is already cheaper out there!!

I think the US would just be worried about items you are going to sell in Mexico, cause they want their cut. I think that the USPS website has the rules on how much you can send accross. I believe the go by dollar value. And i think it is the same for crossing the border. Some places don't even check.
