I depends. Is the cheating partner remourseful and willing to do all the work to find out why they had the affair. What did they say to themselves to give themselves permission to take the action.
Was the affair a one night stand, short term, emotional affair, physical affair, long term affair?
A long term affair means that behaviour patterns have been learnt and ingrained.
Its not the affair that does the damage its the lies, the ability to decieve, lack of respect for the partner etc
If a cheating person discovers the reasons why they found themselves in the affair and does the necessay digging, searching and understanding...then chances are they will not have an affair again. They will recognize their behaviour weaknesses and recognize the warning signs.
However, if the cheating partner blames the other party, makes excuses and refuses to talk and learn. Then very likely that the affair behaviour will resurface again one day.

Most of the time it will happen again. If you forgive them they think everything is OK and that you are a doormat for their lies and cheating. A leopard does not change his spots. Stay clear of the creep!

I have friends who "love" their girlfriends dearly. . . but always cheat. And they always get VERY guilty about it. . . but then do it again!!!! Its a mental thing. . .I wouldn't say that cheaters are incorrigible, but I definitely wouldn't bet on them going clean either. . .

of course they will, they justified it in thier on minds the first time, and for people like that , its easier to do it again and again, leave them behind before you are hurt anymore

It kind of depends on the circumstances of the affair..
Not all cheaters are repeat offenders...
A one-time isolated event under some circumstances
can be forgiven...
