How do you activate certain blitzes in FFVI Advance?

I've got at least two blitzes right now I can't get to work. The only common thread between the two I can find is diagonal arrows. Is there a special way to press those?

it's hard to get them to work when you first play.

but the thing is, you can't push the buttons exactly as they appear.

you need to treat it like it's a fighting game, like street fighter II.

for the one move, it's like 'back, back/down, down, forward/down, forward, A"

instead, what you do is you take your thumb, and you ROLL it from back, to down, to forward, let go, count like half a second, then push A

it's very irritating at first, but after you get it, sabin will quickly become one of your favored characters.

if not... use another character. ...and, you don't really need to use the blitz to defeat that pupil of your mentor, it just makes it easier.

You have to press the space between. Try rolling your thumb over the dpad in the direction the blitz tells you to go. That works for me.
