I can't load any disc in it, i suppose there's some problem with the disc reader.. do any of you know if it's better to get it fixed at a game store in Singapore or is it better to get a new one instead cos fixing it might cost up to a hundred plus and there might be a "relapse"? My guarantee's over..
Thanks...

Try a DVD lends cleaner first. If that dose not work and your PS2 disks are ok then I would say get a new one.

You havn't state how old the ps2 is, or any other information that might help me determine what the real problem is. You suppose that the problem is with the disc reader, but I don't if the problem is actually with the disc reader.

Anyway, if the ps2 is really old, just buy a new one. Or save up for a ps3.

blow into it, give it a good smack, then try it. no good? open it all the way up, blow into the lens (don't spit), blow out all the dust you can from the unit, smear the white lubricant around on the screw-drive that drives the reading head. push the reading head side to side a few times. reassemble and try. if no good, sorry to waste your time. some people replace the laser eye but that sounds tough.

I would suggest get a new on because if it fixed, but then there is a problem again then you wasted your money. BUY A NEW ONE.

If you have to pay S&H and you know that, A) You can't have it fixed here, and B) it'll cost $100+, you can buy a new one for $129.99 at bestbuy.com
