I was contemplating going on a family vacation to the city by the bay, but I am afraid that my children will be preyed upon by the city's many gay residents, or that liberals will harass us. Does anyone have any tips about whether or not this city is worth it for an upper-middle class conservative Christian family to visit? We do want to see the cable cars and fishermans wharf, but I don't know how much liberal scum we can handle.

Oh, I forgot to mention, please don't answer this question if you're a liberal or a gay, as your opinion doesn't matter to me. I am looking to hear from the conservative residents of the city.

My son was 12 and I was afraid for him. It kept turning our that he would be right beside us and then there would be 2 or 3 in between his dad and I and him. They would touch him and say things to him that he didnt even understand. My husband is attractive and they hit on him too. What you saw in the parks on a Sunday was just disgusting. They were having a rally but it looked more like an orgy to me. We won't go back nor will we go to New Orleans again. They are pretty much the same. Good Luck and God Bless

San Francisco is a vacationer-pleasant city, and individuals are literally not "lower than pressure" by technique of liberals or gays. Gays listed below are usual voters, and characteristic no activity on your babies, opposite to what human beings could have informed you. SF is an particularly tolerant city, and could love that you'll visit (and admittedly, spend some funds the following). you'll have a good time with your visit, and once you're doing the cable vehicle-Fisherman's Wharf-Pier 39 excursion, you'd be between many different travelers playing themselves to boot.

Have you been to any large city full of liberal Democrats, ever?

I ask because San Francisco isn't that different from places like New York City. They'd much rather ignore you than harass you.

If you obey the law, no one's going to pay any attention to you at all. Unless you're making terrorist threats against the city in front of the SFPD (I wouldn't), nobody cares what you think.

San Franciscans have spent a lifetime ignoring homeless panhandlers, evangelists with large signs, and each other (more easier than ever thanks to the I-Pod). Frankly, if you didn't bring a suitcase full of money to put in some Silicon Valley investment scheme, you're just not that important. Sorry.

I didn't read much of the joke answers being posted here, but don't worry you'll be fine. I'm a conservative Christian who's worked and lived in and around SF for years and I can say the only time I faced any type of harassment was when we had a prayer meeting (Larry Lea, 1990 maybe you heard about it) at a downtown arena that was widely publicized and not wanted by gays or liberals. Other than that, I haven't had a single thing happen when coming or going on a normal basis. My only advice would be not to bring your children to Castro street. I don't think you'd be harassed there either, but the outdoor advertising is for a gay audience and is very blatant. I highly recommend you come here, maybe it will give you a heart to pray for a city that I love! :)

I don't think you have anything to worry about, at all. Just use common sense and know where you are going and what you want to see. If you can't deal with a mohawk and facial piercings.. it's probably best you don't come. But if you can tolerate people different than you that act respectful and proper, you have the same chances there as anywhere else. Obviously you might want to check when the Gay and Lesbian events are so you can avoid them entirely, even in passing.

Dont go to San Francisco if you worry so much about homosexuals and liberals. Its not a place for close minded people. SF is not a conservative city. Many tourists come here all the time and theres no problem. If you plan to go, you should just stick to the tourist attraction spots, just dont go to Castro (gay district).

I used to live in the Bay area. San Francisco is a great city to visit, and nobody will harass you if you don't provoke them. The openly gay people tend to be in the Castro district, so stay away from there.

This is probably a troll post as the same question is also posted in New York.

The tone of the post is designed to get people to answer in an angry fashion.

It was a pretty good troll folks, but the tone is too frothing at the mouth to be real!

Stay home -- safer from assaults to the psyche or intellect.

Most people living here, forming part of a great city are non-native. Come if you want to expand your horizons and enjoy the cultural diversity and learn tolerance. Afterall, that is why we are all here on earth -- to grow.

Gee, i guess if they ask you for the time they might violate your puuper while you're looking at your watch.

i am a very happily married heterosexual and i can't believe that yahoo answers would allow such an openly homophobic question such as this to even be given validity.Perhaps you would be better off going to Alaska where all you would have to be concerned about is an Eskimo offering to share his wife with you

i'm certainly glad that you aren't coming to my town for vaca because we have some crazy pigs who would coerce your children into committing heinous acts of debauchery b manipulating them into playing in the mud
