They try to do all. In their drive to entertain, they tend to eradicate culture in general. If they have to hit commercially , they have to compromise certain values, which in the eyes of younger generation, No Harm' but the elderly take it as Harmful. Anyway people see cinemas as only part of entertainment.

there are special categories of cinemas which really take undue hardships to give a message and deucate in their own line of thinking. once in a blue moon.Hats of them

you can't say for all. some educate, some entertain and some of them eradicate theculture and somealso have any combination of any of these three.

it depends on the kind of cinema.cinemas educate (like mangal pandey,subhash chandra bose),entertain(comedy films) and even eradicate the culture(adult films).so cinema like everyother thing has two sides,good and bad.

They do all that and more on different levels and different kinds of cinemas. We can't generalise Indian Cinema. It meets the requirement of all kinds.
