how do i know that the product or cosmetics i'm using is safe?
i know of ewg.org where a list of safe cosmetics is given but i found indian brands like lakme,shehnaz,biotique etc. are not there.
tell me of some other sites please.

Safe for who? If you want to know if it is safe for you as a consumer it is best to test a product before you buy. Just put a small amount of the sample makeup on the side of your hand and let it settle to see if a rash appears. If so I would no recommend you buy it.
If you mean safe as in not tested against animals, then research the manufacturer or buy products that state so on the label.
