One day I was walking home from school and suddenly within only a moment a wave swept over me and I knew EVERYTHING and understood EVERYTHING. Then poof it was gone and I was only left with knowing that I knew everything. I immediantly tried to remember anything or the biggest thing that had to do with everything and I couldn't remember anything. Is this a phoneminia that anyone knows about?

No, I'm not a teenager. In fact I was 23 when this happened.

My daughter is bipolar and has had a couple of manic episodes. During both of these she told me that she saw God and said, "Now I understand. Now I know everything". From the look on her face I believed her.

Who knows what our minds are really capable of? Maybe you just had a short in your neurotransmitters, or maybe, as some people believe, we are on the verge of an evolutionary change where we will use more than 10% of our brains.

That is called an awakening. It comes when your ego stops telling you what you are. This happens spontaneously to some people and tends to last only a little while. It can also be induced or guided so that it continues longer in a controlled fashion.

Your experience of "poof it was gone and I was only left..." is your ego reassurting itself. At this point, the "I am" of your mind restricted your understanding and limited your experience. That's very dissapointing and leaves you feeling frustrated.

By trying to remember, your experience was censored by your mind. You couldn't remember because the human mind is not built to store that amount of information.

Be very careful. Learn meditation a.s.a.p. because you will need it!

Take small steps to make your ego flexible. By flexible, I mean there are times when you say "I am" but it means one thing and at other times "I am" means something more.

You had a moment of "I am" that was bigger than normal. When the ego snapped back, it described it as EVERYTHING. Unfortunately, that's not very usefull to you is it. :)

This experience has WAY too many names.

Strengthen your body and open up your mind because your soul has spoken in a big way.

This is very common. The truth is we do know everything on one level but don`t know how to access it. It has been written about and described by a variety of people. When someone finds their way to this pool of information, we call them psychic. Some people call it the Akashic records, some the Universal Unconscious, and whatever. I guess they feel a need to put a name on it.
One of my favorites was Edgar Cayce. He went there using hypnosis with the intent of helping others with health problems and some ten thousand cases were documented.
Another using self-hypnosis at this time is Esther Hicks . She and her husband Jerry answer all questions for people all over the usa and have been doing so for many years. They can be located online at abraham-hicks(dot)com.
Biblically, they say The veil has been lifted, referring to the Veil of Forgetfullness.
Often people on drugs get a glimpse but as far as I know they cannot bridge the two. If they write stuff down it comes out as gibberish. Something is missing.
For further info go online to the above link (abraham) and request a free introductory cd. Enjoy!

"All things come to those that wait" ! You got a taste of it and an incite into the future. What you need to do is open your mind and let the "Truth" flow in cause Truth is wisdom and "Truth shall set you free"!!

Satori is the name of the state where the understanding you refer to lasts permanently.
