The police are right. The best you can do is call the fianace company and have your name taken off the car. so at some point you can get another and your credit is not destroyed in case he dose'nt make the payments and please try to learn your lesson from this. Do not co-sign or share a contract with anyone not even if your married to them. Good luck

this is to true, sorry... you should have never done that.
even if you had bought the car in your name and you loaned it to him he could have went anywhere with it. they wouldn't have to do anything to help.
even if you loaned it to him and he brought it back and then he came back and got it without your permission.. guess what you've loaned it to him once so then he can use it when he wants... I've been there done that. "in this case you would have to send him a letter to bring it back.. a certified one at that."
the law sucks but he has the car and he can do as he pleases..
you can't legally drop the insurance either if it is in your name because if he gets into an accident and get hurt or anything you are liable.

If both your names were on the title as name1 OR name2, he can take it where he wants and sell it, and you got no recourse.
If it is name1 AND name2, he can still take it, but can't sell it.
You are still liable for the payments, and can be successfully sued for unpaid balance.
Did you say your boyFRIEND? You got poor taste in friends.

If it is titled either YOU and HIM; or YOU and/or HIM he is clean as a whistle, and there is nothing you can do about it.
It it is titled to HIM, you are beat. If it is titled to YOU, you can get him for theft.
Let this be a lesson to you re: future boyfriends.

If he is on the title and registration and insurance, then he has every right to take it where he pleases, just as you do.
