Living in China on and off for the last 10 years it is very basic, China needs to forgive and forget, even if Japan does not admit and Japan needs to admit and stop denying. There is deep seeded hate here in China towards Japanese, last year during the "Anti-Japanese" marches I saw a cab that had a sign on it "NO JAPANESE!". It will not go away until the Chinese govt. stops their anti-Japanese propaganda, they educate their students to hate the Japanese and on the other side of the coin, the Japanese govt. needs to stop denying

There is no solution in sight. It's a friction both sides just have to live with. The right is too strong in Japan these days for any more apologies etc. anytime soon, and anti-Japanese sentiment in China has it's own political purposes. Like someone else said, any moron in Japan can say something stupid and stir up trouble all over again. Therefore it's a never-ending story, but life goes on.

There isn't really one, beyond Japan agreeing to prostrate itself to China forever. The Japanese government has apologized on numerous occasions for its actions in WWII, but because Japan is a convenient enemy for rallying the Chinese populace, the Chinese government still says that Japan has never apologized. Because Japan has relative freedom of speech, every time a right-wing writer or politician says something stupid about WWII, the Chinese government points at that and says, "See that? More Japanese imperialism!"

I would say for China to not have so much control over thier peoples thoughts and give them an opinion of thier own. We shouldn't be dumbing down our beliefs, by cutting jobs sending them to China where women and children make pennies a day. We shoud start by not letting Google and Yahoo service thier internet there and not have companies like Nike have slave labor factores.

Revolutions to get rid off their bull-headed ultraright wing conservatives in the government. After that, both sides can admit to the atrocities they have done in history to each other, agree to forgive and move forward.
