Hp model c600 has this problem, their's is worse,coz it shuts down even when the laptop is not too hot. Here is a possible solution.
Go to best buy and ask them u want a notebook cooler. It is basically a flat surface with 4/2 fans,just keep ur note book on that flat surface and it may solve ur problem

Officemax has them too,,, they have one from a company called Targus and they call it a chill pad, under $30. OOPS, i meant compusa and not best buy

My sister's computer only had an identical issue. call up Toshiba and tell them your warmth sink (that became her issue) is not any reliable and the computer overheats and shuts down. If the first man or woman you talk over with cant help you call again, if one man or woman cant help you usually yet another human being can. Ask for a manager each and anytime once you are able to. Oh and it became free of fee and he or she didnt have a guaranty.

Do you have it on a flat surface?

Many laptops overheat when you have them on your lap.
