I'm suprised that most people here (predictably late into the 30s to 50s) are indifferent to the word "f-ggot" as offensive to gay/lesbian individuals. No, its not a "new" slang term, its a derrogrative term equivalent to calling a black individual the "n" word.

Back when peterpuffers and carpet munchers feared for their lives to display such sick and immoral behaviour this world was a much better place. Its a shame Hitler didnt go after the homo's first.

My response is ... meh. After hearing all the brouhaha over it I was rather underwhelmed by what she actually said. She pretty much said if she called him a fag she would have to go into rehab. And unfortunatly she is right, when people in politics now a days do something contiversal they jump into rehab for a get out of jail free card (Looking at you Patrick Kennedy! Foley isn't off the hook either!)

As to the outrage, get some thicker skin people. What she said might not have been apropriate but people do have different beliefs. If you don't like what your hearing change the channel or leave.

If you look up the definition of the word f-ggot it means a bundle of sticks. The British use the word f-g to mean a cigarette. I guess this is another slang word that is going on. Go figure. Even yahoo won't let you write it correctly in defense of offending someone.

Howard Dean was calling for Ann Coulter to appologize, not that it would have done any good from his point of view. Since when is it the government's job to monitor the speech of private citizens? It was a joke anyway, remarking how the PC police will force anyone into rehab who uses the slur. Apparently she was close to the mark.

I'm not indifferent-I think it was a nasty thing to say. What else would you expect from Coulter? I'm a little surprised that republicans are so proud of her. Another face of the Republican party. This was a mainsteam Republican event and they applauded her loudly.

I would love to see her go after a political position on her own platform of prejudice and ignorance...i'm sure she'd get a lot of votes...but she would look like an evil hag...I have to admit that she has the right to say these things...but she should expect an equally Constitutional negative reaction to her words...like being shouted down at a university. I wonder how she would take some one calling a a stupid c%$&.

Who cares! It's just a word! No word, no matter how awful it is, should ever be outlawed. Like NY is outlawing the use of n*gger and probably f*ggot. What happened to that one freedom we had....ahh...oh! Freedom of speech?!!

2007-03-04 17:27:41 · answer #7 · answered by Bunz 5 · 2 3

Her only intent is to liberate freedom of speech. She says some downright assinine things. She says them to infuriate. And she says them to keep the right to speak anything an American right. While I disagree with the message rappers portray in killing cops, what NAMBLA pushes about child rape, and what the KKK says about race I agree that it is their right. Thank you Ann!

Edit: Why aren't you crying about NAMBLA?? I think that advocating child rape is worse than calling you a ******.

Ann-orexic Coulterhorse is an intellectually empty gainsaying propagandist. _It_ is the child who pulls fire alarms and then doesn't take responsibility.
