How long does it take to drive HWY 1 from Maine down to Washington D.C?

My husband and I want to drive along the East coast - starting in D.C and then working our way up to Maine, with a stop in Boston and anywhere else that's worthy. We don't want to be gone more than 5 days. Is it possible?

I've actually taken that drive at least from the start of 1 in Houlton, Maine down the coast to I-95 near the Maine-NH border. It's a nice drive that takes about 5 hours as I recall. South of there on 1 I'm not sure though. Enjoy the drive especially in upper Maine.
