Is american really as great as ppl say?

Question

i live in america, but i see other countries and i think of all the things they're doing better.
im almost growing ashamed of being an american.
some of the influences that america has polluted the world and other cultures with is horrible.

they didnt lead the world in womens or minorities rights.
our government has opressed and refused rights to EVERY SINGLE race, species, gender, and sexual orientation.

sure we may be the richest country in the world..
but what glory is there in being financially wealthy?
and how does that make us great?

and yeah there are some good causes and things goin on.
but i dont think theres enough.
we waste BILLIONS on sooo many things..
when our schools are failing the poor, and priviledging the rich.
the senate and legislature arent in session for an amazing amout of time!! yet they still get paid?!
and who knows how many other things im leaving out..
health care..social security..which i may not get!!
the list can go on and on.

so is america great?

we have all the freedom you could want. but unfortunately our freedoms are slowly being given away. .. sad but true.. i have been to many places overseas and we stil have the best nation.
