People are not staring at you unless you stand out in some way that you didn't mention. I don't think there is anything wrong with you for feeling this way. Being in a foreign country is hard especially when you don't know the language completely. (You write it pretty well--better than some of the American people on this site.) When you're tense and nervous your memory suffers. Try to relax, and realize that all those people you're worrying about (the ones staring at you) have problems too. Their minds are probably 100 miles away, that is, they're thinking about their problems and dreams.
My advice--learn English as well as possible. Use little tricks to remember the names of people you meet. Just be polite, smile and say "How do you do?" or "I'm glad to meet you." You'll get along fine. And talk to someone close to you when you're feeling down. Good luck to you.

Well I can't diagnose by reading a paragraph, but it sure sounds like you may be suffering from depression and anxiety. These are some of the most treatable and often temporary problems in existence today. Things as simple as increased exercise and diet changes could help, as well as cognitive therapy and maybe for a short time some medicines.
Seek a therapist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. They cut right to the point of helping your problem without dwelling on what might have caused it, which is often a waste of time. Don't be afraid to medicate under the supervision of a doctor, since that is often a short-term solution that helps lead you to a long term solution, which requires no medications.

Hey man, I can relate. Sometimes I think someone is staring at me when I go in public, only to find out that they really were. I'll lock eyes with them and then they'll quickly look away, or they'll smile and blush because I spotted them staring. You just gotta' roll with it.
I always thought it was better for people to MEET YOU, other than you meeting them.
As far as the mental loss goes, try and see a professional. Sometimes common things can be causing this though. If I think to much or have a lot of things on my mind that I need to do, I'll forget everything!
Live should be easy....just think of what you NEED to do...and then focus on that.

What you have is an insecure and inflated sense of self.
I'll give you an example: you wake up in the morning and you find what you think is the BIGGEST pimple the world has ever seen. Because you are so self-conscious about it, you spend the rest of the day thinking that 1) everyone can see your pimple 2) everyone is staring at it 3) everyone is secretly laughing about it when you aren't noticing.
Your insecurities make you 'believe' that everyone is noticing you, when really its more of you just being overly aware of yourself.
As for being afraid to meet people, lots and lots of people everywhere have that fear. Think of starting off by simply trying to say 'hello' and 'how are you'. People have to build up their 'endurance' and confidence when talking to others. You can't just be insecure one day and then hope to be super-friendly and talkative the next.
Practice talking to people who it's 'ok' to talk to, like those who work in a restaurant. And don't be upset if you talk to someone and they just don't talk back. Not everyone is going to want to talk with you.
As for the memory loss, it sounds like you are just so anxious and worried about things that the anxiety is not allowing you to remember. When you calm down, try to go over the things that were said, but if you don't remember, don't be upset by it. Let it go and tell yourself "I will be calmer and remember the next time." By taking the pressure off yourself to try to remember, you will naturally start holding onto things.

Life must be really tough for you. I am sorry things are so difficult.
I am NOT a professional person in this field, but I understand that it is difficult to think clearly if you are feeling down or stressed out. This might have something to do with forgetting things.
Do you have someone you trust that you can talk to? They say a trouble shared is a trouble halved...
Don't give up!!
You have been created as a person with all sorts of gifts and talents!! I am sure of that! Try not to think of changing yourself too much, try to remember your talents too, not just your faults! We all have faults!!
Don't give up!!
Best wishes!
