It is his prerogative to retire whenever he wants. Does he need the money? If he was smart during his career no. Does he need to keep playing for fame or glory? I question whether he will get those anyway especially because it is Jake Plummer in Tampa. He made a personal decision out of what was best for his life. Like Tiki or Barry football is not everything to some of these guys they can walk away easily when their lives are balanced.

Yeah it's cool. Too bad the Chargers didn't keep Eli Manning, then he could be retired as well. Whiny players that want to pick where they play. I think it is cool that Tampa wouldn't take him to be a starter which is why he is retiring. Although better to hang it up then to hold on to your former glory, whatever glory Plummer had.

He was given some options. Take a $1.3 million offer from Denver to stay as the backup, go to Tampa and compete for the starters job, or retire. He choose to retire. It helped Denver by freeing up his $5.3 million salary that would have counted against the cap.

Plummer is washed up... even if he did sign with tampa he would pretty much be the 3rd string QB behind Sims

I'll miss seeing him play. He was my personal favorite simply for the fact that he had the biggest heart when he played. He was that way when I first started watching him play in college until the last time I saw him on the field. He gave 150% and he never would give up. I love to see him scramble and play his heart out. He will be missed. ANd I wish he' keep playing for years to come. But if he thinks its time then its time. I wish him nothing but the best in his new life. My family will never forget how he just made the game so damn exciting. He was an original and we loved him for it.

No he's dumb if he retires. He'll be loosing close to 15million dollars if he retires.
Like everyone says, I gotta feed my kids. I think he'll take the money and sit. Garcia will start in Tampa. Or another team will get him.

There are a lot of teams out there right now that are desperate for a good quarterback.
Look at the Dolphins and the Vikings. I think he wouldve fit right in somewhere.
Dont get me wrong, i never thought he was all that good, but i think his decision is premature.

I can see where he's coming from, as houston would be a better fit for him, but I don't think he's being whiny either, as he is older and not that good, so it's no surprise he's retiring
If I were him I would have been on my front-office's a$s to try to get a trade to houston (as he probably figured he would get cut then just sign there himself).

I think it's kinda stupid to throw away 5 million bucks. Maybe this tells us something about Jake's brainpower, or lack of same.
