i would reccomend getting a lawyer because they can do everything basically for you.
all you have to do is go and talk to the lawyer, tell them the story.. they take care of everything... and all you have to do is show up on your court date and they even talk to the judge for you.
(i didn't say a single word to anyone, so it was pretty much stress free)
since it's a first time offense you will probably get community service, i got 70 hours, but the number typically varies.
