Mine still hurts. I've had it for a year and the link below is how it looked when i first got it. It was swollen for like two months and it still hurts when i touch it or sleep on it. The guy that did it for me said that it was normal. On the first couple of days it should be swollen even if you have little piercings. Its normal for your ear to get big and red. If you use the spray they give you, it'll heal faster. Its the cartiledge so its perfectly fine to have them red and burning. Trust me.

so long. I couldn't sleep with my head turned to that side for months. Don't expect it to heal quickly. Cartiledge piercings can take up to a year to heal. If it's only a few days old you shouldn't be able to move the piercing, or tug on it. I had a captive bead ring in mine, and it took about a week before i could rotate it to clean it.

A few days after I got pierced I accidentally turned over on that side in my sleep. I bled all over my pillow. It was pretty disgusting, and it hurt a lot that next morning.

However, burning and pain that extreme sounds off. Could you be allergic to the metal? What kind of jewelry do you have in there? Mine never burned, per say. I would suggest going it to see your piercer soon.

oOooh..that doesn't seem normal. When I got my cartilages pierced last summer they were sore for the first few days..I couldn't sleep on either side because of this. But yours may be infected if it "burns" when you touch it. My suggestion would be to NOT touch it unless you're cleaning it. And even then, make sure you're hands are sanitized as much as possible when youdo. I did that myself at first (kept touching the piercings)..and one of them swelled pretty badly, but I just left it and it eventually went away after a couple weeks. But later it swelled again, pus and everything so I had to remove it to relieve the pressure. Constantly touching your ear when it's been freshly pierced is when it's most vulnerable, so don't. I'd also suggest buying sea salt (or sea salt solution), because it cleans good and helps the healing process a great deal.

I still haven't got around to re-piercing the one I took out, but the other still remains and it's fine.
