i know there is a risk of it using tampons, being that it's a foriegn object, so can an IUD do the same thing? I have one and sometimes i start to itch on my arms, and then i can see my veins really good, almost too good. but then in like 2 minutes, it all stops. Could this be a side affect of it being rejected? I've had my IUD for almost 5 months now. I dont know if that has anything to do with it but just wondering. What would be some side affects of Toxic Shock Syndrome?

Well more than 99% of toxic shock syndrome cases have been associated with tampon use and so far only 2 cases have been linked to people using IUD's so there's a strong chance that it's not TSS. Symptoms are: High fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea, but also a rash characterised as sunburn.. Side effects for having an IUD is just the usual; headaches, spotting, mood changes, cramping etc.

An IUD does increase the risk.

Yes it can. Anything that is introduced in the body that doesn't belong there can cause TSS. You do want to seek medical attention though. I had a friend die from TSS.
