Are there any women who can actually slaughter and butcher a pig themselves?

That is with help of course. Not a wild pig but a domesticated one.

This is for a pig feast we are planning and it would be great to get some ideas from other females who have done this.

I have done so before. I have both killed and butchered both farm pigs, and feral pigs. It's fairly easy if you know what you are doing. It depends on how you butcher the pig as to how you are going to cook it. If you want a whole hog roast/pit BBQ you pretty much just gut the thing and cook it according to your directions. If you want to go through the process of cooking only certain parts, my best suggestion is to take it to a butcher and have them do it. As for city ordinances, I lived/live in the middle of nowhere, so there are none. Call the local police department, or county courthouse. They can tell you more about that part of it.

I don't see any reason why not. I've done a sheep before. The hard part was gutting it without making a mess. A good small knife for this job is a must. Other than that, having a way to hang the animal after it's dead so that it can be cut (if you plan to cut it into managable pieces). It's very heavy so if you can't kill it exactly where you plan to do all your work, it's helpful to have someone around to assist in managing the carcass.

No different than butchering a deer. I have dressed a deer alone and that's work. Are you going to cook it in a pit? People I've known whom prepare pigs, generally cook them that way. Depends on your customs or local custom or religious reasons. Sometimes people have to gain permission from city officials to slaughter a large animal like a pig.
