It seems that if the MPAA were a respectable institution at all they would force NC-17 ratings upon films so that the most vulnerable members of our society would not need to have homosexuality shoved down their throats. Parents shouldn't have to worry about taking their kids to the movies only to result in them growing up having hundreds of promiscuous sex partners of the same sex each year. It's not enough that these films should get an automatic R, but NC-17 so that even liberal parents could not take their kids to films with these kinds of "values". So what can we do to force the MPAA to bring about this change?

Please note that I intended this question for concerned parents, preferably Christian. So if you're liberal or a gay, please don't answer this question, no one cares what you think

Because there's nothing wrong with homosexuality and the films that explore such themes do so to bring humanity to it, because there're too many ignorant and foolish people out there who abhor it. It isn't a cause for the rating for the same reason that films about drug-running or heterosexual promiscuity aren't given NC-17 ratings: it is a natural and normal thing in the world and any light given on it only works to show some aspect of it. Whether or not it is of a negative nature or a positive one is up to the filmmaker.
Homosexuality does not equal pornography, and you need to get that through your head.
And I pity the parents who think that showing their children a film about homosexual characters will make them "turn" gay; that's an idiotic belief. If only those kids could be so lucky.

Regardless of the rating, parents have the responsibility to make sure that the contents of films are appropriate for their kids and for their moral values. It seems like you're making a difficult argument that homosexual themed films are being shoved down your throat. See, first, you have to 1) hear about the movie, then 2) decide you want to go see the movie, 3) pay for the movie, 4) get some drinks and popcorn, 5) walk into the theater, 6) sit down, 7) turn off your cellphone, and 8) sit through the movie. Every step in there is voluntary -- if you don't want to watch a homosexual themed film, then don't go and watch it. But to say that it's being shoved down your throat...take some personal responsibility and admit that nobody's shoving it down your throat.

Why aren't all movies with any Cuss words automatically NC-17. With ANY nudity, even a shirtless guy, should be NC-17. I think you ARE a liberal trying to make Conservative types look bad to be honest.

kids aren't having homosexual themes "shoved down their throats", i would say that's a complete overstatement.
And how does a movie with homosexuality result in the viewers having "hundreds of promiscuous sex partners"? That is an entirely different issue; sexual content is already factored into the MPAA ratings system.
When you go to the movies, you CHOOSE what movie you want to see. If you dont want to see a movie with gay characters, then don't; simple as that.

Because they rate films based on content and not subject matter. There are plenty of films with very explicit straight sex scenes that are give an "R" rating. Just b/c you have a problem with the subject matter doesn't mean the MPAA is going to change it's rating system. Do you expect the world to just go by what YOU think is right and wrong? Stop trying to shove YOUR beliefs and values down other people's throats; it's just as annoying when liberals do it.

The ratings code is voluntary. So, even if you people managed to take it over, theatres are free to admit who ever they want.
I do find it odd that, while complaining about people "shoving homesexuality downtheir throats" in a movie they chose to see, that you would seek to shove your narrow minded, and quite bigoted, views down everyone's throat.
Before continuing on your crusade to expunge gay movies from society, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the First Amendment. While we all realize that fundamentalists would replace the Constitution with their own theocratic regime, the Constitution still is the law of the land.

if you get a chance, check out the film (documentary) "This film is not yet rated"
its very interesting. It attempts to get to the bottom of how , and why , the mpaa rates movies the way it does. but just remember, nobody's forcing you to watch it.. you can always look away if you're not comfortable with it.
