I am NOT an Otaku, just a normal guy like you. Now, these are series that will cater to the general demographic. I'm not trying to get cool points by recommending you obscure/disgusting stuff; all of these are 5/5 animes that even ppl who dont watch anime can enjoy.

Well here are a couple man...Mezzo, Orphan, DN Angel, Slayers ( thats an awesome anime.old but awesome), Ghost Stories ( funny as hell,check it out), Get Backers, Wild Arms Twilight Venom, King of Bandits, X (think thats what its called ), Street Fighter anime..( I like them).

How about Samurai x? i like the story plus how it was made. if you will try to watch the program closely, there are symbolisms there that is really connected with the story. I'm not an expert regarding animes but i just personally really like samurai x.
One story i also recommend is Knock Out... if you are a boxing enthusiast...
