I thought they were all born with this reflex. But every family member seems to take it as a personal reflection of how my 3 month old feels about them when she grabs onto someone's finger. Didn't your babies grab onto any finger that fell into their hands?

Yes they all do, but let your family think what they want to believe. If it makes them happy, just let them enjoy it.
Just wait when your baby starts having preferences to people and cry at the ones s/he doesn't feel comfortable with. That's going to be tough..

My husband grabbed onto the forceps that they pulled him out with during delivery and wouldn't let go, they had to pry his fingers off. That's the story he told me...now that's a strong grip. I guess all babies are different...but my 3 girls have always been strong.

You are correct, and pediatricians rate this reflex in infants when checking them. It is referred to as the Palmar grasp reflex.

Yes all babies do that it is part of their natural instinct. It comes from when we lived in trees and they had to cling to their mothers.
