What makes the USA the best country on Earth?

We all know the USA is the greatest, most powerful, and most free nation on Earth. What do you folks think more specifically are the reasons for its greatness, and for why no other country can even hope to compare to us????

Please note that I intended this question for real Americans who actually respect this country. So if you're a foreigner or liberal, please don't answer this question, no one cares what you think

We are far from the best country.

There's so many problems with this country - all the people without health insurance, the reliance on foreign oil instead of using alternative energy sources, the crowded prisons full of non-violent offenders, the gap between the rich and the poor. I could go on, but you get the point.
Also, we have very little freedom compared to some countries, like the Netherlands for example. Even if you don't agree with prostitution or legal marijuana, you can't deny that that is much more freedom than we have.

And oh, another reason the US isn't great - it's full of arrogant people like you who give the rest of the world a bad image of the US.

You asked what makes the USA 'the best country on Earth' but will not let non-Americans answer your question ! Isn't that a strange attitude ? If the USA is really the best country on earth you should never ban foreigners from singing its praises.

The USA is (potentially) the best country in the world because of its great Constitution. Plain and simple.

If you want only agreement, then you don't have any business asking the question. I tell you that USA WAS the best country 50 years ago. Let me give you an example.
In the 50's when I was in high school, I lived in suburb of Washington DC. I used all my free time to get to know the place. I went into most of the Government buildings, I saw every nook and cranny of the Capitol (it does have beautiful murals and statues which you will never get to see), I walked up the Washington monument twice to see the plaques which go all up and down the stairway..... Now tell me just how much of what you can see. without an ID you're dead. Fortunately later I could get into the DOT and FAA buildings because I worked for the FAA.

Sounds like an ego thing,you guys are great polluters and have lots of crime. My country has its faults too but personally I feel Canada is a much better country as I am sure a German would feel the same way about Germany.
