If you were able to conceive a year ago, unless you've had some kind of infection since then, probably not. You should see a doctor just in case, but it could also just be stress. If you had a complication with your abortion that could cause infertility, you probably would have noticed something abnormal at the time. Also, you might consider how long you've been attempting to get pregnant - many healthy women take up to a year to get pregnant. Most doctors don't even think of a woman as having fertility problems until she's failed to conceive for more than a year, or had more than one miscarriage.

Do you know the reason why you can't have a baby?? If not get yourself to the doc to find out why! But if you had an abortion a year ago then why are you thinking about having a baby now? Have things really changed that much in your life? A baby deserves to be born into a stable and loving home (whether it be with one parent or two), this is the least you can do for them after all they don't get a choice in the matter so make sure you make the right one for them!!

Usually there are no long-term complications from having an abortion. Sometimes, however, women cannot have children after having abortions. If you had an abortion about a year ago, are you sure you are ready for a child anyway? Sometimes stress can keep women from getting pregnant. If you and your partner decide you are ready for a child, keep trying. If you still cannot have a baby, there is always adoption, aritificial insimination, and surrogate mothers. Some women try for years though before finally getting pregnant.

Here is some info from the mayo clinic.

Q: Does abortion cause infertility?
Answer
There is no evidence of a link between abortion and endometriosis, a cause of female infertility.

Endometriosis is primarily a disease of women who have never been pregnant. It occurs when tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus (endometrium) becomes implanted outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes, ovaries or tissue lining the pelvis. This can lead to scarring, which often causes painful and irregular periods and prevents pregnancy.

It is possible — but very unusual — for an abortion to cause scarring on the inside of the uterus. This scar tissue could prevent conception or interfere with subsequent pregnancies. However, the scar tissue typically can be removed.

Although abortions don't cause endometriosis, they may increase the risk of adenomyosis, a disease that's closely related to endometriosis. In adenomyosis, the endometrium extends into the muscular wall of the uterus, which can cause painful periods and abnormal bleeding. But adenomyosis is not associated with infertility.

The chances of you becoming sterile because of an abortion are less than 1%. If you're trying to concieve don't worry bc sometimes stress can have a lot to do with it. I had an abortion and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get pregnant too. I'm almost 6 weeks now so don't worry.:)

sometimes an abortion can cause it to be harder to have a baby. Maybe it is not the right timing for a child for you. Go to your dr, to see if there is any reason you and your partner cannot have a child now. God is not punishing you- how are you feeling about your abortion though? Stress can sometimes make you unable to conceive. I counsel women who have had abortions, and also women who are considering their options if they should have one or not, so if you want to talk, email me, if you want too.

For something as personal as that I don't think this site will help you much. Although I don't believe in abortion I would recommend you see a doctor, nobody deserves to be judged like you are being judged now via these 'answers'. Good luck.

Maybe, you should always go see your doctor about this. However, some women have trouble having babies even if they haven't had an abortion. It is always best to seek your doctor. They run test and really see whats going on. Wish all the best to you

PEOPLE can be so rude and judge they do not know you and your life....I to had an abortion and now am having a hard time getting pregnant. My Doctor said everything is OK with me. If it was with a different partner it could be him. The Doctor said that sometimes it easy to get pregnant and sometimes its not. GOD would not punish you for what you did....the god I know is kind and loving. If he were to punish you for that than why dose he let crack heads have baby's and let people have abortions over and over. God dose not interfere with our lives we are here to make are own decisions and try and chose good over evil. Good luck to you!!!! and do not pay attention to rude people.

You might want to contact your doctor and get checked out, something might have happened during the abortion that made you not to be able to concieve again.
