You may want to look into San Bernardino County and/or the areas of Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Claremont. Condos, PUDs and/or Townhomes are your better bet at this time and these area are attractive and growing.

You might want to check out Hemet, Anza, Aguanga, Cabizon, and Yucca Valley. These communities are about 45 to an hour from Palm Springs. Another lower priced area is Blythe, but you would need to check out the area to see if it appeals to you at all. It is very hot in the summer and a total desert. Good Luck!

Well just to give you an idea of what the homes cost in LA which is where I grew up and San Diego, where my husband and I just purchased a home. Our townhome prices started in the low $400,000 for a 1600 sq. ft attached home. Detached homes are starting in the mid $600,000 range. Good Luck I hope this is helpful to you!

You might be able to purchase a small condo. I would suggest going to a real estate sight and checking out different counties in So Cal.
