For the same reasons, more or less, that abortion should be legalized.

The court system is already bogged down by volumes of victimless crimes - of which prostitution is only one, (gambling, etc.). Legalization would take prostitution out of the control of organized crime & bring it under regulation by local jurisdiction. A code of ethics could be developed to decrease the violent element. Regular medical checks could make the vocation safer. The tax revenue could help control our rising cost of living. The police force could free up hundreds of man hours for investigation of crimes that don't involve mutual consent. The feminist issue would be counterballanced by the fact that there would be male prostitutes as well. Can't we tolerate that? We accept smoking. Well regulated prostitution would have less negative impact on public welfare than second hand smoke. Frequent testing for aids & other STD's could reduce the spread of these epidemics. Morally, let's get real. Can you think of a reason not to legalize prostitution?

legalized the prostitution is a good alternative
to deal with women in order to understand
what I tell ya you should get marry
there is not to much different between
a non prostitute and prostitute
at least if you go with a prostitute you know
a much is going to cost you
in the relationship you never know the real price
to what do you want
so I'm in favor to legalize the oldest profession of the world
beside you can not stop women to be a prostitute
is the call mother nature!!

ABSOUTELY.
Do I feel that prostitution is an institution that I would like to promote. NO. However, my pragmatic side says that prostitution got the name "worlds oldest profession" for a reason. It is OBVIOUSLY not going to go away. It is in every town and city, in every country. It does not make sense to tie up police enforcing something they will NEVER eradicate.
I would much rather those officers who are busy chasing hookers to put in jail busy themselves chasing child molesters and putting them in prison.
I know the argument - the incidence of STD's will increase, what about the poor wives and kids...Horsepoop! If there was no business for hookers now, there would not be any. However business is booming, apparently. Basic supply and demand.
Wives, if you husband is going to visit a hooker, would you rather him visit one in a regulated brothel, or picking up a heroine junkie down on "ho row"? Which place do you think he has a better chance of catching the clap?
If he is a cheater, he is a cheater. Visit a brothel, pick up a hooker on the street, meet a girl in a bar...does the method of cheating matter?

Look at our prostitution versus European systems like in Amsterdam: Our prostitutes are frequently drug addicts, underage runaways and they're violently controlled by pimps and organized crime groups. I'm not talking some rap song "pimp fantasy", real pimps are extremely violent and scary. American prostitutes are frequently targets for serial killers because they walk the streets and get into the cars of strange men. Their customers also frequently hit, choke, cut, stab and shoot them for no reason.
In Amsterdam prostitutes are only allowed to work in certain areas of the city. They don't work for anyone but themselves (for the most part). They bring customers to their own place, they don't go in their customer's cars. Their work is taxed and regulated and controlled. There is a small area for streetwalkers just outside the city for mostly foreign, mostly transvestite sex workers. Their "walking strip" is very short and there are "parking stalls" set up for their work, so the government even controls this.
It's really a question of women's rights. Prostitution is never without risk and problems but as long as they can make money from it, some women will do it, as they have for centuries. I believe that since it's THEIR bodies, women do have the right to profit from prostitution. Our government should control it so it's only in designated areas and tax it. Basically, now we're making criminals rich and dooming young prostitutes to a life of addiction, sexual slavery and violence. It'll never be perfect but we can at least give prostitutes some control (both in their lives and work), some safety and some chance at a normal, healthy life (in relative terms, of course).

Cos if u r caught with ur pants down, u can always tell the cops that youve got legal permission. But jokes aside it is a must for health issues & giving those poor ladies a life of dignity.

I can't imagine anything that would bring down the feminist movement more than legalizing prostitution.

I've never understood why it's illegal. A person has a right to do what they will with their own body, and it isn't anybodys business. The same goes for the Johns, who cares? The morality argument from the right is just swill.
Legalize it, tax it, regulate it so it's safe.

As long as people are tested regularly and don't spread diseases than yes prostituion should be legal. People have the right to do what they want with their bodies.

Drugs are also dangerous unregulated, taxable, and they are never going to go away. Thats also something you do with your "own body".
However, I wouldn't recommend legalizing them.
Outlaw what's wrong and do what's right.
You know it ain't right to pay a lady so you can get your rocks off in her.
Maybe fun, but not right.
