I agree. I drive around Salt Lake and there are tons of billboards up showing that homosexuality is Ok. That someone you know and love is homosexual. Grrr... Fine if you live in sin, but don't expect me to be okay with it. Or big rainbow signs above a religious building saying "Hate Free Zone" which is an attack on Mormonism, who are upfront that they believe homosexuality is a sin before God.
The thing I hate is when I'm out with my daughter, who is six and LOVES bright colors. She sees a rainbow sticker and wants it, but I have to tell her no. And I feel she's way to young to explain what it means. It's so frustrating to me that such a group hijacked the rainbow, a symbol of God who views homosexuality as a sin, as their own.
Pseudonym - Have you not seen the beer commercial with the two girls at the bar who are checking out a guy, and then his boyfriend sits by him and they're like "OH!"

I think it is media propaganda. They use commercials, music, movies, etc to promote homosexuality to lure today's children into this obscurity. And would you believe it, they're succeeding. Every single day, somebody suddenly comes out as gay because the media and society made it okay to be gay. Why all of a sudden, are we seeing a spike in the number of people coming out? It's because this is the "new trend" and everyone wants to be a part of it. They make it seem like it's natural and "genetically predetermined". How the f*ck can two straight parents, with the apparent "straight gene", create an offspring that has the "gay gene"? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And the argument that gay people were born the way they are is false, in my opinion. A person is a result of their environment and upbringing. Just like somebody else said, racial discrimination is far different that sexual discrimination. People who were subjected to racial discrimination were denied basic human rights and suffered greatly, but somehow society equated that to not being able to fulfill your sexual desires. Now with that being said, I am not homophobic. I believe that people have the right to be or do whatever they want, but I am not going to conform to societal beliefs just because they say it's normal, because biologically speaking it is not. I just don't think it is that big of an issue for me to really care. If you want to be gay, so be it, but don't go around and shove it down people's throats and accuse everyone of being homophobic just because they don't necessarily like the idea of homosexuality. Take this the way you want, this is just what I think.

I bet you let your kid watch violence. Maybe you should be more worried about the messages they are getting from that. Most homosexuals are against violence and hatred because it has been heaped on them all their lives. I just hope that if your child ever comes to tell you they are Gay, you can still love them, because they will need it.

Clearly, there are people out there who feel their deepest values are under attack, who see their country changing around them and are deeply uncomfortable.
Gays and lesbians have been around for ages. Even William Shakespeare was bisexual. When a group that has been repressed for so long, you can only expect them to be loud when pushing for equality. They want be judged on the content of their character, not their sexual orientation. They don't want to convert people to be homosexual, as your suggest with 'shoved down your throat'. However, they do want people not to deny they're homosexual when they really are.

I feel like you do also to a point. Its becoming more and more common to see it on TV and out in the Open now. I try to never Judge others for their sexual preferences, but a line needs to be drawed somewhere.

Yeah, and I think it's highly offensive that people compare homophobia to racism as it trivializes the sufferings of people who went through slavery and other forms of racism that was far worse than merely not being able to fulfill your sexual fantasies.

Why do you have to keep your kids unaware of homosexuality? Do you want them to grow up as ignorant as you? It's not like the homosexual couples are having sex on the commercials or anything!

Homosexuality is a fact of life in today's world. Not just here in the US but everywhere. The sooner you realize it and make sure that your children understand that what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom is their own business the easier it will be for you. As with racism, there is no place for homophobia in an educated person's mind.

Nah... I think you're just alittle "touchy" about the subject yourself, and maybe you should get some counseling to look into the matter. Sometimes the best place to start changing the world- is by looking in the mirror first.

Seems like their need to be "heard" exceeds my need to "listen"!
