people who have set goals for themselves know exactly where they are heading but today's world has so many diversions & distractions along with temptations for all, that people have got confused. as soon as u try to ape someone or be like someone who is totally different from your own self, that is when they lose track of themselves even & just pass through life aimlessly. riches have taken a front seat & people seek riches by unfair means most of the time. its selfishness which has taken over from selflessness of earlier times. since everything comes a full circle, hopefully this too shall change we shall see more determined & focussed human beings sometime again!

In today's world
we are hearing live your life today fully...
this seems to be the goal....
different religions had different goals of life....
like in hinduism it is MOKSHA... meaning freedom
freedom from fear anger guilt emotions attachments....
Then there are different goals everyone wishes to achieve...
u wish to do well in whatever field u are...
making your family and friends happy...
We run after SUCCESS these days...
And the true definition of success as i believe was given by socrates.... It goes like...
To laugh often and love much;
to win the respect of intellingent persons and
the affection of children;
to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to give of one's self;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived -
this is to have succeeded

what is so funny is that people, are doing all of these things...working, going to college (and I include myself on that one), arguing, putting their life on the line for others, going to laundromats, e.t.c.....and in the end everyone is still going to die, and none of what they have done will make any difference. Think about it. When you die is anyone aside from your family or friends going to know, or even care that you went to college? Or had a job? Or went to the laundromat? Do YOU even care about that? And yet you are doing it, and once you die it will not even make a difference.
