xbox 360 problem?

i just got my new 360 yesterday and i already messed up the Ethernet cable: I plugged the cable into my westell 6100 modem and then when i was done with playing and i tried to play again like 5 hours later the connection failed, i mean the IP ADDRESS. so now the cable won't go in the modem properly. and now i cant play xbox live
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

Buy a new ethernet cable if you didn't mess up the modem itself.

This may sound like a daft question but are you trying to plug the ethernet cable into the right socket. The telephone socket and the ethernet socker are similar in size.
