i have heard that asian parents, particularly filipinos, favor having their sons/daughters marry their own race. if not, they would like them to marry (in order of preference): whites, europian....etc. and then blacks as the least favorable. any suggestions on why this is so?

You'd be surprised how many cultures prefer to marry others within their own race. And yes, because of negative stereotypes entering closed minds, blacks are always on the bottom of the list. Lol.

People in general really hate others who don't look like them. It's the root of all evil. Why can't homo-sapiens just get along?

A lot of Asians take pride in their culture and by marrying someone with the same culture, they can propagate it. Not only that, but it feels more safe and they feel closer to the person I marry because they share history together.
About the order, whites have more money than blacks. Financially, whites are higher up on the ladder so they attract parents more. Don't look at it so much as greed, but as security. We need money to live in a good neighborhood and more importantly, so our kids could get the best education we can give them, which is extremely important.

I would say it all depends on the parents and the family history. For example, if they've been living in the US for many generations, they would be a lot more lenient. On the other hand, you have families that have only been here for one generation, like my own. This kind of family would be a lot more strict dating/marriage.

The whole preference thing is also seen within all asians as a whole.

For example, in my family my parents want me to marry a Thai guy, mostly because of the language and cultural issues. My boyfriend's parents (who are Chinese) have told him to break up with me and to find a nice chinese girl instead... again mainly because of the language and cultural differences. (they've never even met me btw)

When it comes to dating non-asians, it gets even tougher because of the huge cultural differences (and also racism). There's a lot more obstacles to overcome unless you're extremely lucky and find a bf/gf with really cool parents or their family is so Americanized that they simply don't care.

Well my wife is Asian, Filipino, and I have not experienced that. I have visited the Philippines many times and I see many black men married to the women there, as many if not more than whites. So I have to wonder if you have heard a true fact.

Japanese especially only hears rumors/stereotypes about other countries from other countries. And that country is Britain and US, most of the time who's Caucasian.
