I would say that someone, firstly, compromises their personal integrity. They then lose self respect and then comes the inevitable loss of character.
Someones character is the way it is because they have a certain level of self-respect and integrity. Without them, they are a different person.

circumstances sometimes do lead to a character loss. there maybe certain reasons why an individual had to taken certain steps which were totally against his or her nature & character. no person would willingly lose their character.

its because of lack of self confidence .usually people who are influenced by other people around them or who tend to be like others or say trying to be some one who they actually are not tend to loose their character.to have a good character it is very very important to believe in your self.
