i have a cd/dvd burner on my new system but cant?

i can play cds, but when i try to play dvd it tells me, compatable dvd decoder is not installed on my computer! what do i need and where can i find it for free! thank you

Well, one good one that's free is called the "VLC" player. It's available for download at the below link. Hope this helps.
