I don't get it. Call me dumb or whatever but I love my kids and couldn't imagine being without them. Seriously, why do people say that? And its mainly people who don't have any of their own that I hear say it.

I was a single parent for most of my child's life, I learned a lot from my son as he was growing up. That would be the reason I can not say that he is overrated, So on the other side of that coin, I could understand how people without kids would feel that they are over ratted. Its hard to relate to people that do not have kids anyway. I think that adults without kids are "OVERRATED"

Of any society, culture, or group, I think kids are highly underrated. They represent the best that life has to offer and they are protected and appreciated the least. Harm a child in the good ole U.S. of A. and you if you're very unlucky you just might get a slap on the wrist. I say one time, you're out - for good. Kids are the best, and a small part of the proof lies in the many adults who can't or won't recognize this as fact.

I think once you have kids, you have no choice but to think they are the greatest and throw yourself completely into raising them, and that is good. But, for some people like me, I am just not ready to have kids and I am not sure I ever will be. To each their own. I don't think one way or the other about it. It is just my personal preference.

I have to add something about the idiots who think people who don't have kids are lonely. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE KIDS BECUASE THEY ARE LONELY OR WANT TO FIX THEIR MARRIAGE?!!!

I moved out for the first time - I am not counting living alone in the dorms at college - and I am loving it! Kids are great and all, but there is no way I would have one until I am ready and certainly not because I was lonely or something.

They dont have any therefore they dont understand what a joy it is to have them. Alot of these people are probably in their early 20's to early 30's. More worried about partying and doing what they like. When they are in their late 30's early 40's they will have done it all, partied, been successful in their careers, travelled etc. Then theyll be lonely. " I wanna have a baby!" This happens so often these days its so sad. They are then, risking having a child with any number of birth defects, including downs syndrome.

I agree. Kids are great and they add so much to our lives. They remind us of ourselves when we were their age and yet our experience allows us to correct and guide them into a more successful life. We usually raise them to avoid the mistakes we made. By the way,,,,,do you happen to have anymore openings in your home school class? I would love to attend. LOL,,Good luck

Try raising one and you;ll find out.

Young couples think its all wonderful fun times... then they find out about the 3:00 am feedings, the dirty diapers, measles, falling out of trees, refusal to eat anything except macaroni.... and that's just part of the first 3 years...

You spend 18 months teaching a child to walk and talk, and the next 18 years yelling "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!"
