I'd be polite and try to disengage myself from them as quickly as possible.

Depends on past history with the person, but in most cases, if there is time, enjoy the conversation

I'd listen to see if they interest me, if so I'd be happy to have a conversation with them and work on a friendship. If not I have no problem being straight up and tell them they aren't the kind of person I'd be willing to associate with.

depends on whether it's a total stranger or someone who I see everyday but never talk to. In either case I'd still be skeptical.

Starting a conversation can mean that they are just being friendly. It doesnt necessarily mean that they have other motives. Whats wrong with trying to get acquainted? If the person isnt being pushy or obnoxious you are just being paranoid.

It depends on the situation. Is it a party, or some wacko on the street?
