On a naming forum that I visit, we play games like this sometimes. It's super fun! At least...for me. Hah.

Given these clues, what do you think my legal first name is?

-It reached the height of it's popularity in 1982 (Ranking 72/100) , took a nose-dive in 1986, and finally lost a place on the SSA naming charts in 2003.
-There is a actress with this name. She has worked with Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock. She also has had more than one television show, including one currently still on the air.
-There are two variations of my name. The more popular spelling has an A in the fifth letter spot. The other version replaces the A with an E.
-It has 7 letters.
-The meaning involves the word "white"
-It starts with a C.
-It has very little in common with my Yahoo! Answers screen name.

Best answer goes to the first person to get it right!

Wow. Messed up again. I should have said that the second version replaces an A with an I.

Candice -- #72 in 1982 was Stacy -- you threw me off.

Yes, I changed my answer from Stacy to Candice. I'm sorry... I don't deserve "Best Answer," although I didn't try to "cheat."

After reading the first clue and thought it would be a slam dunk... II ran to the SSA website & got # 72 from the 1982 list and posted my answer, "Hi Stacy". Then I saw the clues "It has 7 letters" and "Starts with a C." So I went back to the SSA website and looked for the closest name fitting that description on the list. It was # 78... Candice (as spelled on the SSA website).

I had not copied any other answers, but realized mine was wrong and did my own research. I was the 2nd to have the name Candice (or any variant spelling).

For what it's worth, Candice. I know that this has already been answered and after I figured it out (I've been a fan of Candice Bergen since her movie debut in the 1960s), I accidentally saw one of the other answers — I usually post "blind", and then look afterwards as part of a game I play with myself. But what the heck, two points is two points, and I've got an answering quota to meet before I get to bed. 'Night.

I think maybe a fact was missing or incorrect. According to SSA the 72nd most popular female name in 1982 is Stacy and Male is Craig.
