I am against this, but it seems to happen everyday here in America. Even if your child is watching a kid friendly show. When the commercials come on, sure enough there will be a couple of commercials that make some reference to homosexuals. its hard enough to monitor what your kid is watching, but to have to monitor commercials is near impossible. Maybe thats the plan?

I think maybe this is the way that YOU interpret the commercials. The last commecial I saw that could possibly have homosexual overtones was that Snickers commercial during the Super Bowl. I see nothing wrong with them viewing these alleged commercials. I would hope that you would discuss the commercials with them if they ask you questions about them. When you do this, I hope that you will put a lid on your bigotry for a few minutes and simply tell them that it is a "lifestyle that some people choose". Don't encourage them to hate or harrass them.
Face it, there is no way to hide your children from it unless you bury their heads in the sand or lock them in a basement until they turn 18. The gay community is out of the closet. It is not uncommon when walking downtown in a big city to see men holding hands with other men and women holding hands with other women. Should they stop what they are doing to appease you and your children???
The suggestion that I gave about explaining homosexuality to your children is the way my father explained it to me when I was a boy. I asked him what a homosexual was and I am glad he did it that way. He told me that in HIS opinion it was wrong but he left it up to me to make my own judgement and he did not teach me to hate them or harrass them. I am grateful that he did that because I have several friends that are gay and my wife has a cousin who is gay. I feel that my life has been enriched by these friendships.

Time for a reality check. Like it or not, the homosexual community is not going to go back into the closet. They have moved past trying to please a society that is only pleased by them acting like they are straight. The cat is out of the bag, the horse has left the barn, choose your cliche, that's the way it is.

Your children, my children, and our grandchildren are going to become very familiar with same sex couples. In school, at work, as their next door neighbors and in the public eye and on television, happy and together as naturally as any straight couple. Because for them, that is natural. It isn't up to them to change, it's up to us. Because all that is changing is their former tendency to stay in the closet. You have a choice. You can continue to teach your children to regard homosexuals as deviants and unnatural, or you can give your children a real gift and explain to them the differences the human condition produces. It won't make them gay to be accepting of gays. It will make them better human beings. Homosexual overtones do not turn children into homosexuals. Until people begin to understand it isn't a choice, this prejudice will remain and people will still fill their children with bias and fear that doesn't need to be part of their psyche. No one is going to "turn" gay that isn't gay already. It's a brave new world, think a little harder about it and see if you can't see the value in teaching your children to be kinder human beings. It won't hurt them, and it won't change the moral base you have been trying to give them since they were born, it will only add to the strength of that base.

What commercials have "homosexual overtones"? How can it be that I haven't noticed them? Are you sure you're not like the woman I saw on TV who was sure she spotted homosexual penguins in "Happy Feet"???

Children do not need to see something as sick and disgusting as homosexuality portrayed on TV. It gives them the idea that it is normal and acceptable and it is NOT! God's word very clearly states that homosexuality is a sin and my children will not be allowed to think it is a lifestyle. A sin is a sin is a sin and it's an abomination to the Lord!

How about instead of teaching your children to be loving and understanding of other peoples culture instead of teaching them to be angry, hating people like yourselves? A common argument to homosexuality is how to explain it to the children. So two people who love each other can't be together since you can't talk to your own ****** up kid for 5 mins? When any Christian commercial comes on the T.V. I turn it off immediately, if they don't see it there's still a chance they can grow up and be decent people

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'd prefer my children to be exposed to the reality that the world isn't homogenous, and that diversity and acceptance of this diversity is far more important than the usual depiction of homosexuality as being "disgusting and wrong". I'd rather that my children learn that hate is wrong.

Gee. Maybe because I feel that homosexuality is an aberrant behavior and I do not want my child to be taught that it is acceptable or normal.

Homosexuality is wrong.

I don't want my kids exposed to sex on TV in the first place, but homosexuality is even worse.

I will use it as an example of what NOT to do, however.

Are there any other groups in society that you think should be banned from commercials?
